Cllr Tony Callcut
(Deputy Chair)

My professional background is in education, having been a teacher in both primary and secondary schools in Plymouth and Devon, as well as a Headteacher and more recently Executive Principal of a Multi-Academy Trust.

I am now retired from teaching but currently work part-time supporting a large national business with their Operations Management.

Although I have had a successful professional career, my passion and interest has always been in farming and the environment. I have a small flock of Dartmoor sheep which I graze on land within the parish.

I have lived in Holbeton nearly all my adult life and was married in Holbeton church.

I previously lived in Kingston and before that in Ringmore.

Both of my children (now grown up) attended Holbeton Primary School and Ivybridge Community college.

I am a member of the Orchard Committee and have enjoyed seeing our local community orchard become a successful and productive space for everyone in the village.

I am aware that Holbeton has changed significantly over the years, but it has always maintained an amazing community.

I think the parish has always been a desirable place to live, not just because of our rural location and amazing local environment, but also for the wide range of people who make the community such a thriving and interesting place.

The parish will inevitably evolve over time, but with good community engagement, I believe any future changes could be beneficial to the life of the village and surrounding areas.
